Re: ESRI Shape files not happening
I honestly would not know how to build the landscape from scratch. Rgds. It's real simple in FSX/P3D, the entire world is all land and water is added in. Want different water shapes? Exclude what's there and reintroduce your new data. Exclude and replace, a simple concept that sometimes grows into ...

Re: ESRI Shape files not happening
Just because you add new data to FSX does not mean it's going to show. And I sincerely believe that there is nothing wrong with SBuilderX. SBuilderX does not display anything in FSX, it only prepares the data for FSX/P3D to display. Roads in water? Imagine that! The default water/hydro data in FSX i...

Re: .INF edition not working
My first thought is that the choice of file names is causing a problem. But it's still early here... Have you tried to compile inside a DOS window to see what error is showing? The other steps would be to set things up as a single source INF file and see if it spits out a BGL. If so, start adding th...

Re: Retaining FSX SDK Paths
All we can do is grin and bear it. I am about to upgrade to Windows 10 and dread the day. I shall try to keep my Windows 7 installation on a separate volume (for purposes of scenery development) and hope that the Windows bootloader allows this. Knowing Microsoft, there is a great chance that this w...

Re: SBuilderX and P3DV3
I went in FSX to check the island of Paxos and it's a depressing place. At least in default, fixed up it looks like it would be a good vacation spot! New mesh would help some and there's source readily available that is all ready to be compiled. But... The picture of the photo work shows eve...

Re: SBuilderX and P3DV3
What makes you think I know anything about mesh...
It sounds simple, but in this situation I'm not sure. The pic you posted from P3D has the fuzzy text thing for the Shift-Z onscreen readouts, so could you share a Lat/Lon for the island?

Re: SBuilderX and P3DV3
Is there anything there in default, other than water? It's looking kind of flat and that leads me to think it's all water in default. The other thing to check would be to open the BGL file holding the photo terrain with the TMFviewer program that is a part of the SDKs. Then select View | Level of De...

Re: Islands water polys "flood" the mainland
FSX doesn't expect you to do anything, it's incapable of thought... You might be thinking that if you do an exclusion of default water that it will cover a QMID 11 and if there is any water in that area that you want to save that it would need to be reintroduced? But that QMID 11 area does not...

Re: 19,712 tiles or 5 GB
As Lance mentions, MultiSource inf files can often serve for this instead, although I suspect that even Resample will run up against a hard memory limit when dealing with very large images. Best regards. Luis Good morning, Luis! IIRC from ab few years back, Resample will create a very large size fi...

Re: 19,712 tiles or 5 GB
Going from failing memory..., you will still find a limit as to what can be downloaded and displayed. I *think* I was able to generate a largest file of around 2gb during beta work. The difficulty with wanting to go and make a massive file is finding tools that will allow editing of the image. A 5gb...

Re: ESRI Shape files not happening
One of the requirements for anything to compile is that it is in the correct 'format'. In GIS terms, there is a Projection and a Datum. These control the layout parameters for the data. FSX requires data to be in Geographic Projection and WGS84 Datum. If your shapefile isn't in this format no compil...

Re: Question about background image
Workaround would be an odd name, IMO. GIS data works on a rectangular basis. But if you feel one large rectangle is not suitable, then the alternative would be to utilize multiple, smaller files. Then you could compile using a Multisource INF file. The blank or void areas would take up much less spa...

Re: Issues since updating to Windows 10
Both of the files that are showing as unable to locate would be in the \<SBuilderX install location>\LibObjects folder. You don't mention where you have things installed, but it just seems like the regular "Windows over-protection" routine. Installing FSX and anything that might create a file far, f...

You can find some tutorials by Luis Feliz-Tirado at Avsim that deal with the "eco-system" of FSX/P3D.

Re: terrain elevation issues after using geotiff data
Following up, in a timely manner... Going back and looking at the pictures, what the abrupt drop off in elevation shows is where the default water is flattening the terrain. Though there is photo work over the area, that would not change the flattening effect of the underlying water polygon. S...
