Re: Sbuilder and FSX Tile server

Its funny, almost like Google are watching... I swear that the very first time you try and download a background from GE it will work quite effectively down to a reasonably high resolution (depending on where you are of course) - but if you make an error and go back because you didn't quite get it r...

Re: Canals

Thanks Luis, As usual this turned into a major project. On the way south I came across airfields that needed "Tweaking" and of course when the aqueduct gets to the mountains there are some major pumping stations (see attached)... -first time I used a sloping Poly. Another week of my life wasted on s...

Re: Windows 7 and SBX313

Hi All, Not sure about the missing lines, if it helps, when I compile my projects I usually create a separate BGL for each type... For example <projectname>_Lines.BGL and <projectname>_Polys.BGL I have always done it this way due to getting confused! As for the folders setup in Win7 - attached is a ...

Re: Canals

Update to Dick's method... On closer inspection the canal has concrete banks of course - so make a line (its about 75m wide) then convert to a poly, and make it water. Now copy and paste, convert the new poly back to a line and make that line be a single track gravel road... Works quite well... (see...

Re: Canals

Hey, works just fine!

See attached (that's Harris Ranch 3O8) and Interstate 5 in the foreground...

Only another 200 miles to go...

Re: Canals

Oops! Wrong valley and its called the California Aqueduct... it runs alongside Interstate 5 for much of its length and the channel is about 35m wide, with the banks its getting on for a 80m wide linear feature that's about 200miles long. Always has water. Quite a significant omission... I wonder how...

Re: Canals

Hi guys, Been away and only just read these replys - thanks! The poly might work, will let you know. Its actually the aqueduct - runs almost the whole length of the Owens valley starting from Mono Lake and provides Los Angeles with much of its water - quite a significant feature i was a little surpr...

Canals

Hi all, I just noticed that the Los Angeles aqueduct is completely missing from FSX, it seems to have been replaced by a railway! Any thoughts on how to create something like that? Whats needed is an extrudable texture like a road filled with water. Stream Lines won't work (too wiggly) and you could...

Re: Windows 7 and SBX313

Hi, I am running SBX313 under windows 7 x64 - the trick is to install it NOT in the preferred location. C:\Program Files (x86)\ blah blah is a protected folder under Windows 7 and Vista. I started out that way and had exactly the same problem - I guess resample.exe and the other tools try to write t...

Re: Loading old projects in X313 under Win 7 x64

Hi Luis, Thanks, yes indeed maps are involved, I can try your idea - part of the problem is that MS blocked access to the \Program Files folder which was where everything was stored in my original setup... I have spent quite a bit of time figuring out ways around that issue with several applications...

Loading old projects in X313 under Win 7 x64

Hi all, I installed X313 a while back and it worked fine. I recently upgraded my operating system to Windows 7 (x64) and, after some initial problems was again able to get X313 running, at least I can create new projects and they work just fine but... In order to get X313 running with Win 7 I needed...

Hi Luis, Many thanks your additional information corresponds exactly with what I am seeing! I am now experimenting to see if I can reproduce the strange red/yellow artifacts; that I see at one or two places around the edges. I think it may be due to an imperfect fit between the various images... One...

Hi Luis, Yes indeed this is where I found out how to create the TIF with the _B in the filename. But I wonder if I am going about this in the wrong way? Here are the steps: 1. Create a .bmp map file using the option Add Map>From background. 2. Edit this .bmp creating white areas where I need transpa...

Blendmask

I have been making some blended photoscenery using a custom blend mask, I have been successful but there are a couple of problems: Note these are not just thin rectangular blend masks but have large black areas. I followed the instruction to create a greyscale .TIF image with the same name as the ph...

Shorelines and large lake

Hi all, I am feeling my way here one mistake at a time! I have modified a large lake. In order for everything to tie in with the existing scenery it was necessary to `change the outline, remove the shorelines, change the lake level and finally re create the new shoreline. The mistake comes at the ve...
