Re: ESRI Shape files not happening
Here's another completion for the records: • After facing the "SBuilder cannot read this shapefile" message again, I checked the file in QGIS attribute table and found out that it had (in my case) two invalid entries without a name and type assigned. After copying these values from other entries and...

Re: Character encoding for Shapefiles
Hi Ian, no "secret objectives" here  but maybe a temporal aim for overfulfillment . The thought arose when dealing with a city scenery (part of Munich) where OSM files don't seem to be very exact, e.g. have line fragments of the same name. Letting SBuilder read the names in the defined en...

Re: ESRI Shape files not happening
Hi zulfiqar, what I found out the hard way () is: When importing a shapefile, SBX first sets the lines or polys to "..._of_Type_None". As long as you don't change that, it seems that SBX doesn't recognize them as valid objects – so this is another very important part of the "format" Luis ment...

Re: Islands water polys "flood" the mainland
Thanks for your rapid answer, Lance! You're right with the assumption that I really thought I'd have to fill the whole QMID11 area (parent poly) with custom water... I'll try your approach within the next days and see if it works. Regarding SBX source code you might be interested in this information...

Islands water polys "flood" the mainland
Hi everybody, somehow I'm stuck in creating an island photo scenery with an issue I never had to deal with before... The photoscenery covers an area with hundreds of islands, and some are not very far away from the mainland. Since FSX expects me to cover the full LOD9 square with custom hydro-polygo...

Re: Bug in SBuilderX 3.14
I can very well imagine, it's a lot of volunteer work. Unfortunately I'm not the most experienced programmer myself, so I could most likely only contribute a little bit of coding myself. I was more or less thinking about the "programming cracks" like Arno Gerretsen or Scruffyduck, who are both progr...

Re: Bug in SBuilderX 3.14
Thank you, Luis, for your response. As an "assumption update" I can report having a strong and reliable 50 M internet connection in Munich (= big European city), so there must be another reason for the "1 tile missing" problem as well as for the crash. As a workaround I did some of the Thai is...

Bug in SBuilderX 3.14
Hi everybody, I'm having severe trouble making photo scenery with SBuilder X (latest Version with updated plugins), including crash of SBX at the attempt to get tiles from Google Satellite. The problem with incomplete download seems to be known and might sometimes be solved by hiding the background ...

Re: Character encoding for Shapefiles
Hi Luis, we Germans have the "ß" in "Straße" (calle), so almose every street has a special character in its name  And, to make it even worse, we have so much lesser sun  If you think it's a good idea, I want to let you (and Luis Sá) know it in complete... : Read (standard) shp-file(s) wi...

Re: Character encoding for Shapefiles
Hello Luis, the shapefiles follow the official standard, which is Unicode (UTF-8) and determined in one of the shapefile's subfiles (*.cpg). The encoding for the users can only be changed while reading / parsing the file(s), so it doesn't make a lot of sense to edit every street name out of hundreds...

Character encoding for Shapefiles
Hi all, trying to get the roads of my area through a shp file is basically easy. But many of the street names have special characters in them, and I don't get their proper (German) representation in SBuilder. Looking at the cpg-file in the source I see data are UTF-8 encoded. Can I set / change that...

Re: Loading your addon Airfields.
Hi wbunnell, it's an old post already, so did you find out your answers yourself meanwhile? If not, let me know what you want to do, i.e. why you want to load your new airport (done with which program) into SBuilder. The plain answer to your question would be "No, you can't", but usually there are w...

Re: Old Airport in mesh.
Hi Aaron, of course I have no idea what exacly you mean with "modified the origional FL file and the AB file", and how exactly you relocated the CPX airport. In a quick test I couldn't reproduce the hole, even when I completely deleted the original airport. Did you make a new AFCAD or did you change...

Re: Using SBuilder9
Hi wbunnel, maybe I'm some months late, but if you still have the problem then it might be a solution to check your SBuilder.ini file for the different paths registered there. Make sure all of them are still valid. If it's the SBuilder project file (.sbp) that gives you the error, you will want to c...
