BSQ color key?

Post by ztimbre » Fri Mar 07, 2008 5:22 pm

Hello guys,
I am working on a 1.2m/px photo scenery for an area that does not have SRTM data.

I would like to create a "fake" mesh map (as mentioned by Scott in another thread)by hand-painting the BSQ bmp. My problem is that I cannot find any data on which color values correspond to which altitudes.

Is there a color key, or list of RGB values, for altitudes in the BSQ bmp?

Forgive me if this has been discussed already. I did several searches but found no mention of this topic.

regards,

RJ

Hello,

I do not remeber either.

But is this

Blue is special and means 0 altitude

Then Green is varies in units of 1; Red varies in units of 256.

An example altitude of 522 metes translates to:

Red=2
Green=10

Altitude = Red * 256 + Green

The Viewer (as far as I remember) shows the altitude in the status bar or in a box. Please check if the formula above is right!

Regards,

Luis

Luis,
Thank you very much for your reply! ..and sorry for my late response. I have tested your formula and it is exactly correct. I've now got hi-res photos working in my scenery, and they look great.

Many thanks!

RJ
