Another try at photo

Post by boleyd » Sun Mar 20, 2005 8:02 am

I am trying photo texture again. First I do not se any gaps in my stuff. Each map is larger that lod13 which may be the reason.

My problem is the colors. I am assuming that FS2004 is limited to 256 colors and thus the odd colors. The original does tend toward red but not as much as FS2004 displays.

Hi,

The gaps will show at certain angles if you set "Terrain Texture Size=High" in the Display Settings. If the underneath texture is similar to the texture that you are applying the gaps are difficult to see.

Now the colors - I remember to discuss this problem in avsim. As the final textures are going to be DXT1 it is better that you reduce the number of colors of your original bitmap to 128 or 256. If you are using transparency, then reduce it further. Experimentation will tell you the best approach.

Regards, Luis
