Can't display maps

Post by Artur Santos » Sun Jul 08, 2007 10:29 am

Hi

Every time i try to create a map at 56x40 i get this error message: "Can not display maps, map view was turned off". After that i can't turn on map view. If i try a smaller map it works ok. Why is this and how do i make a bigger map (in order to get a city in zoom level 16)?

Thanks.

Hello,

Note that images can become very large and exceed the RAM that is available in your computer. Each tile means:

256 x 256 x 4 bytes = 256 KB

Therefore:

100 tiles = 26 MB

56 x 40 tiles = 574 MB

I suggest that you open the task manager (CNTL ALT DEL) and look to the memory ressources that SBuilderX is consuming.

May be you need to get small images and then combine them outside SBX with an image editor!

Note that if you want to make big photo sceneries you are better using resample directly. Use SBX to learn, to study the INF file that it generates and then use resample!

Regards,

Luis

Same here. 2gb isnt enough? SbuilderX uses 600mb or so and theres a lot of free memory left.

Whats going on..?
