An updated Plug-In for a map server

Post by Luis Sa » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:41 am

Hello,

William Good made available a revised plug-in that allows higher zoom levels downloads from Ask map servers. It can be obtained from the stick thread about Plug-Ins for SBuilderX.

Kind Regards,

Luis

Edited on October, 26, 23pm GMT

The plug-in was replaced now to allow Zooms up to level 18.

Regards, Luis

I tried the ASK dll but SBX immediately fails at load time with it. I assume that you disable the original dll and change the name of the new dll to AskServer.dll.

Dick Said, I assume that you disable the original dll and change the name of the new dll to AskServer.dll.

Do not rename the DLL it should show up as a new menu selection. I have been using it for a week now and did not have any trouble. I also downloaded it from this site and tested it that way. From your errors it looks like it is looking for a different name like the one that came with it. Please let me know if that fixes it.

I also have found this new server to be OK. I haven't changed any names.

Ok, I was too clever....works.

Is there a reason why the resolution is limited to 16. The ASK site (via browser) allows better resolution in some areas. Of course, they may have placed a limit on the API entry.

Dick B,

Please give me a location where we could see higher resolution. It can be incressed but where I live and checked it, 16 was the highest that I could get from the server. Thanks for the intrest.

Two pictures (aka screenies) the first of SBX with ASK at zoom=16. The other picture shows ASK map site zoomed to its max. The difference may be due to limitations of the programatic entrance into their database. The picture is the tip of Manhatten.

I have updated my plug-in allowing a zoom level up to 18 for Satellite and Street. Thanks to Luis for replaced my previous one with this new one.
