Building a proper runway surface

Post by phillipt » Mon Oct 06, 2008 11:09 pm

Hi all
I have been successful in building my first fictious airport on the playing field of the school I teach at! I can only land the Air Creation Trike Ultralite (maybe a Piper Cub at a pinch) because of the lack of space of course but it's still fun. I am guessing the content of the next issue of the tutorial in the current PCPilot Magazine and have only been able to lay down a textured runway (using a borrowed runway texture .bmp from FSX in a textured poly).
My question: Is it possible in SBuilderX to create a proper runway surface with heading markings, centre line, touch zones, thresholds etc. and no stones flying around when rolling? I cant see any reference to that anywhere in SBX
Thanks
Phil

Hi Phil.

There are 3 basic kinds of scenery:

Objects
Airports ( runways, markers, lines, etc.)
Terrain

Gmax is the usual tool for object creation. Whisplacer is a good tool for object placement.

Airport creation is best done with Airport Design Editor:

SBX is for terrain creation. SBX can also place objects.
