Adding MDL as scenery

Why do certain .MDL files when attempting to place state they are not valid? I am building scenery and wish to place some aircraft as static using the .MDL files. Aircraft which came with FSX work downloaded aircraft I receive the .MDL not valid? Any help appreciated. Thanks :?:

The downloaded aircraft were made for FSX? Or are they FS9 MDL files? IIRC, it's been mentioned that FSX aircraft can be placed as objects, but not earlier files.

Thanks MeshMan, that is it, my fault, yes they are FS9 files not FSX. Thanks for the reminder.

I tried a couple of FSX .mdl airplane files and they loaded but they do not position right. Since the origins are in the center of the fuselage they are buried in the ground or water. Is there a way to set the elevation?

Hello,

Please try the parameters (altitude or Z Bias) that appear on the General tab of the Objects Properties.
