Issues since updating to Windows 10

Post by Robbert » Wed Aug 26, 2015 12:05 pm

Hi

I've being using Sbuilder for the most part of 10 years now and was always able to sort out issues here and there, but this time after upgrading to Win 10 I'm out of ideas and needs a few suggestions to solve a few issues.

1. SBX 314 : downloaded the complete installation as provided by Dick, the program works 100% but as soon as I try to compile a BGL it give that annoying error "windows had experience a problem" and the it runs the troubleshooter, that is of no use. I tried to also to run SBX in different compatibility modes 7 or vista does not help. All the security permissions is set for all users to allow in every directory, the paths in SBX is correctly set up but win10 just keep giving me the same error as soon as I press the Compile button. Doesn't even matter if I run it as admin or not. I all tried the installation the other way around by firs installing 313 and the overwrite the the files as given by Luis still no result same error... Any suggestion will be of great help....

2. As I could not get 314 to compile a bgl I went back to 313 reinstall the program and got it working and its compiling a bgl with one Issue I keep getting the following 2 Issues when starting the SBX 313, See attached Photo's

Both of the files that are showing as unable to locate would be in the \<SBuilderX install location>\LibObjects folder.

You don't mention where you have things installed, but it just seems like the regular "Windows over-protection" routine. Installing FSX and anything that might create a file far, far away from the \Program Files folders would always be a good first step, IMO.

Hi Robbert.

I also get a crash while compiling vectors using the SBuilderX314 64-bit. The problem seems to stem from the shapelib.dll If you look in the Tools/Shapes folder, no shapefile is being created.

I tried SBuilderX314x86, the 32-bit version of 314, and it will create the shp files and will compile. The 32-bit version may have memory size limitations, but it is fully functional and may be what you need.

I'm going to se if we can get a version of the shapelib.dll that works, but Luis had problems with this library file when creating 314. Also, Windows 10 thinks a download of either SBuilderX 314 version is malware, so I have to unblock the download to get it... fun, huh?

Dick

Thanks for your response, I almost thought I'm again the only one struggling. Will you please post me a reply with link for the "SBuilderX314x86, the 32-bit version of 314" download
