Running under Win 7

Post by Sidney Schwartz » Sun Dec 11, 2011 9:07 am

Hi Luis,

I've installed Sbuider for FS9 on a Windows 7 computer. I am not installing any of my programs in the Program Files or Program Files(x86) folders...I created a new Programs folder. I get the following error message when I try to run Sbuilder:

Run-time error '339': Component COMDLG32.OCX or one of its dependents is not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid.

Does this have something to do with Visual Basic? I'm having a similar problem with one other program and was told to install VB6, which I did, but the problem persists.

I hope you can help me. Sbuilder is a must have...if I can't get it to work I'll have to stop making scenery.

Maybe this helps?

I'm getting ready to go to Win7 from XP. Looks like I'll be having some of the same fun you are?

Thanks, Lance...I'lll give that a try. So far the transition from XP to Win 7 has been surisingly easy. Of the dozen or so FS related programs I've installed under Win 7, I've only had this and one other problem, and they both seem fixable. The biggest nuisance is transferring the huge amounts of data files I have from one computer to the other. It will be worth it, though, as the Win 7 machine is quite a bit faster than the old clunker I'm using now. Can't wait to get done with setting everything up and doing some flying. :D

The instructions you pointed me to worked. I also had to register TABCTL32.OCX, but once you know the registering procedure it only takes a minute. With Win 7 it's important to do the following: when you run the Command Prompt, right click on it and select "run as administrator". If you don't, the registration process won't work.

Thanks again. :D
